Crescent & I

Several years ago I made a minor name for myself online as the creator of "Ripples" or "Crescent's Story", as well as being the reader most-enamoured of this character. Today this is probably not as well remembered, because I rarely go by the name of Crescent anymore, but I continue to feel like a protective big sister of this character. Woe-betide anyone who would misuse Crescent!

Nonetheless, though some of the people who come to this page already know my story, I will leave the details here.

When I was eleven, I was introduced to ElfQuest by a new friend (who is now my best-friend). I became obsessed at lightening speed, as often happens with young girls introduced to ElfQuest. One particular belief that I took on was that some humans were reincarnations of elves. My friend said that she was the reincarnated daughter of Clearbrook. She knew that I was a reincarnated elf too, though we didn't know who. I remember standing in her dining room, looking at GN #1, and she said "You have red hair like Strongbow" (his hair was quite red in that edition, despite a later brown-ing). Thus I declared that I was Strongbow and Moonshade's firstborn daughter.

I called myself Dreamdancer (embarassing, I know) and drew many pictures of a dark haired elf-girl wearing brown and violet. Like her mother, Dreamdancer cured hides and sewed leathers for her tribe. In real life I developed a habit of picking up scraps of leather from the local glove/handbag factory and stitching them into elf-outfits for friends. By the time that this belief crumbled along with other childhood games, I had become very subtly attached to those two characters, until I almost forgot why. Moonshade was my absolute favorite among the female elves, though I was not so intently attached to Strongbow.
